Create a shop keeper and their business! Be it a blacksmith or a wandering peddler, they all need means to sell their merchandise, even if its a bridge that they are selling. Grand emporium or tavern in a questionable part of town – may this category allow you to scratch your entrepreneurial itch!

Music can make you remember, forget, heal or dream. It speaks to those who listen and inspires them to create. Magical, isn’t it?

For this category, listen to the provided piece of music and build a creation based on whatever images, feelings or ideas may come to you. Make it a scene, a brick-built character, tell a story or create a still life – this category is as open as it can be and there is no right or wrong.

This category is directly inspired by the wonderful work of Paul Vermeesch and his ground-breaking concept of Symphony of Construction, a two-medium game of artistic telephone combining music and LEGO bricks. The piece of music was composed by Ian Spacek specifically for Brickscalibur.

Where there is dark, there is light: Be it a dim lantern in gloomy catacombs or a campfire in the night, a light promises warmth and hope, driving back the dark shadows and what might lurk inside them. It guides or simply illuminates the interesting – a light does so many things!

Show us a baker in the early hours of the morning, a scribe working with the light of a candle, or a rescue party arriving at dawn. Bring light into the dark, in whatever way you see fit. Brickbuilt or achieved through smart photography or other means – the choice is yours.

A farmer needs their oxen, a knight their trusty steed, a witch a feline friend – so many parts of life wouldn’t be the same without a companion of the creature kind.

Show us a group of minimum five minifigures along with a creature that is somehow essential to this ensemble. Think of a desert caravan and their camels, or a group of hunters and their hunting dog – whatever you choose, and brickbuilt or not, do make the creature important.

This category is all about the minifigures – as such your entries should only contain characters and their accessories and the creature of your choice. To keep things fair, larger side-builds will result in a deduction of points.
